Community Partners, Inc. To Receive the Deep-Energy Retrofit Valued At $100,000 Portland, ME — The BrightBuilt Collaborative announced Community Partners, Inc. as the non-profit selected to receive the BrightBuilt Retrofit (BBR) award. The Maine-based non-profit organization provides direct support services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
From a competitive pool of applicants spanning organizations from Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine, Community Partners will receive the deep-energy retrofit estimated to be valued at more than $100,000. “CPI’s mission includes a commitment to the sustainability of our environment. Employees at every level of the organization are passionate about minimizing our energy use, of course to save money but also to be responsible caretakers of our planet for future generations,” says Tina Andrews, Director of Finance for Community Partners. “We are thrilled and extremely grateful to have been selected as the BrightBuilt Retrofit recipient. This will enable us to dramatically reduce energy consumption at our Victory Avenue residence, providing a more comfortable environment for the people who live there and reducing our need for subsidies from the State of Maine.”
As the BrightBuilt Retrofit recipient, Community Partners will receive the following:
- $10,000 cash award toward the project cost $90,000 interest free loan toward the project cost Discounted design services Access to an award-winning team of experts
- A reduced carbon footprint and lower energy bills
- The unique goal of the BrightBuilt Retrofit initiative is to develop a high profile, open source, community project that will result in the completion of an energy conserving building renovation for the deserving New England non-profit organization, Community Partners.
- The completed project will bring to light the value, affordability, and accessibility of deep energy retrofits in New England’s colder climates.
BrightBuilt Collaborative is a collaboration of leading sustainable building professionals in the Northeast. The Collaborative’s first project, BrightBuilt Barn (www.BrightBuiltBarn.com) won a number of national awards, including LEED Platinum, and was named the Innovative Residential Project of the Year for 2009 by the U.S. Green Building Council. Now, through the BrightBuilt Retrofit open source initiative, these same experts are turning their attention to increasing the sustainability of the more than 130 million existing houses in the country. BrightBuilt Retrofit (BBR) is a collaborative community project in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, Green Building Advisor and Green Building, LLC.
