I'm DELIGHTED to tell you the Hands & HeARTS event - CPI's first large scale community fundraising event was a big success!!

Thanks to the generosity of our staff, volunteers, people we support, Board members, local artists, area businesses, corporate sponsors, the North Dam Mill and it's businesses and artist, the Saco River Auction House and area musicians who donated so generously to this event... (drum roll please!)

We raised over $6,000!

After expenses nearly $3,000 will be available for establishing creative/performing arts related programs for the individuals we support. With a whole year to plan for next year we should be able to reduce our fund raising coast considerably. (Especially in light of the economic turmoil of recent weeks we can feel especially pleased with this outcome!)

It was very heart warming to see so many folks from our residential and day programs participating in this community event - creating art, having their portraits drawn, drumming to the music, participating in collabortive art pieces, bidding on art work, as well as contributing art work to the art auction which attracted professional artists from as far away as California.

There were many wonderful connections and special moments as well as new relationships developed in the course of implementing this event...laying a great foundation for future years.
