Groundbreaking for New Group Home on Old Lisbon Rd.

Community Partners, Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new group home they are building for five adults with developmental disabilities. A spokesman for the City of Lewiston, Lincoln Jeffers, said he is “excited about this investment in the midst of a tough economy.”

LEWISTON, Maine (December 23, 2010) – In celebration of a new congregate living facility for adults with developmental disabilities, Community Partners, Inc. (CPI) held a groundbreaking ceremony with the Lewiston City Council President, Stephen Morgan; City of Lewiston Assistant to the Administrator, Lincoln Jeffers; Lewiston Department of Health and Human Services, Joe Witt; Director of CPI Clinical Services, Rory Robb; Director of CPI Finance, Tina Andrews; CPI Program Manager, Kelly Walcott; future home resident, Shelly Sanborn, and family members Mr. and Mrs. Belanger. Representatives from the construction company, H. E. Callahan of Auburn, were also present: John Blanchard, Vice President; Jonathan Blanchard, Site Superintendent; and David Cushman, Project Manager. As a nonprofit organization, CPI provides housing and support services to adults with developmental disabilities in Southern and Central Maine. On the site adjacent to CPI’s12-bed nursing home on Old Lisbon Road, the new five-person home will have strong professional oversight. CPI currently rents and staffs three homes in Lewiston. According to Rory Robb, “We are very excited about a new accessible permanent home for the people we support in Lewiston. The new energy-efficient group home will replace the three rentals, which will considerably reduce our utility and staffing overhead, and also ensure long term control over housing costs.”
